Commissioners commit to not con- structing roadways in conservancy Montgomery County commissioners signed a resolution June 28 to not construct roadways in the Cook’s Branch Conservancy, located o FM 149 near Montgomery. The project was created in 1990 by Houston-area businessperson and philanthropist George Mitchell and his wife, Cynthia Mitchell. According to its website, Cook’s Branch also serves as a eld laboratory for carbon ux, drought, ecosystem transition, biodi- versity and the e ects of re. The resolution highlighted “rapid population growth and the call for new roadways” as a potential concern for the land where the conservancy operates.
