Conroe ISD approves $672.77M budget

How it happened Discussion surrounding the idea of limiting student cellphone use in district schools started with a presentation by the School Health Advisory Council to the board of trustees Aug. 1 on the harmful eects of using cellphones in class on students’ mental health. The framework A school subcommittee gave a recom- mendation on adapting the district’s current policy to limit cellphone use. However, all students will still be able to access their phones during campus emergencies.

The Conroe ISD board of trustees on Aug. 15 approved a balanced budget for scal year 2023-24 despite many districts statewide approving budgets with shortfalls. The overview The total revenue and expenditures for FY 2023-24 is $672.77 million. It includes a $49.46 million projected expenditure increase for personnel growth, portable buildings and ination adjustment. The district on Aug. 1 approved using $11 million in federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds to provide a one-time teacher stipend of $600-$1,200. Several other regional districts, such as Cy-Fair and Spring ISDs, approved budgets with shortfalls this year alongside teacher raises or retention packages.
