Frisco ISD of icials are looking at closing Staley Middle School due to declining enrollment at the school and districtwide. District of icials are recommending the school board close Staley Middle and move students to surrounding schools, FISD Chief Operations Of icer Scott Warstler said March 10. As of press time, the board of trustees were set to decide the school’s closure timeline during an April 14 meeting. “It’s a very big decision that this board has to make,” Superintendent Mike Waldrip said. “The number one thing that we need to consider is ... can we provide quality programs and a quality education to the students at Staley middle school next year. Given the situation we’re in, that’s number one, everything else is secondary to that.” Frisco ISD looks to close Staley

Middle school attendance zones and enrollment projections
If approved by the board, Staley Middle students will be transitioned to nearby middle schools at the end of the 2024-25 school year or after the 2025-26 school year. Staley Middle’s enrollment is expected to drop to just over 500 students in 2026. Nearby middle schools Trent and Hunt are projected to have around 760 students while Gri n Middle will have about 540, according to the presentation. All sta in good standing will be guaranteed a position and student course requests and extracurricular activities will be honored at their new campus.
