Shine Fitness o ers yoga and tness classes in Flower Mound
Julie Costly and Angela Hughbanks met while working at a yoga studio in Flower Mound. When that business closed, they felt a need to ll the void. “When it closed, we couldn’t imagine not having that community anymore, so I decided I was going to open a studio in Flower Mound,” Costly said. Costly and Hughbanks opened Shine Fitness in Parker Square in March 2023. The backstory Costly started teaching yoga in 2017 and managed a yoga studio for four years. Hughbanks has been teaching yoga since 2006. In terms of dividing ownership responsibilities, Costly focuses on the business side while Hughbanks is the lead instructor and handles merchandising. Currently, they are the only primary instructors at the studio, and they teach 14 classes a piece each week. The setup A variety of yoga, pilates and high-intensity interval training, or HIIT, classes are o ered. Their large one- room studio features infrared heated panels. “One of the bene ts of the infrared panels is they provide detox,” Costly said. “When you’re moving in yoga or tness classes, your muscles are already warm when you start, so you’re less likely to have an injury during class because you’re more exible.”
What’s special about it? Hughbanks explained their yoga classes are a quiet space before, during and after class. “When you walk in the room, you can relax immedi- ately,” she said. “After class, we never rush them out; if they need to lay there a few minutes, they have that time.” The approach Greeting students by name is a top priority at Shine Fitness. “We’re going to know your name when you walk in the door,” Costly said. “We’ll know if you’re new here, and we’ll welcome you and show you around. We don’t want anyone to feel like they were not noticed.”
