New Boudny Elementary opens in Katy ISD Katy ISD opened its 47th elementary campus, Alfred & Ann Boudny Elementary, this fall. Located at 7402 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road, the new school is named in honor of two of Katy ISD’s veteran educators, Alfred and Ann Boudny, who col- lectively dedicated over six decades to the district, officials said. The gist Funded by the 2023 voter-approved $806.56 million bond, Boudny Elementary serves the northwest quadrant of KISD, currently the district’s fastest-growing area, according to district documents. The $58.3 million Boudny Elementary will feed into Nelson Junior High and then Freeman High School, officials said.

UH launches state’s 1st ‘Academic Fresh Start’ The University of Houston is the first Texas public university to adopt a revised state law by launching its Academic Fresh Start Program allowing students to exclude grades and credits that are at least five years old—halving the previous 10-year wait. The program will open for spring 2026 registration. Who’s eligible Program requirements include: • College credits must have been earned more than five years ago • Credits cannot be selectively applied—stu- dents must accept or forfeit their credits • Fresh Start must only be used once • Students must be undergraduates at Houston, Katy or Sugar Land campuses

The details Each grade includes its own bathroom facility and common space for student activities, Assistant Principal Patty Wagner said. Additionally, each classroom is equipped with a hallway learning space, providing students a quiet, flexible environ- ment for independent or technology-based work. The two-story building was designed ​with all primary grades downstairs for accessibility, while the fifth-grade classrooms are grouped separately upstairs to provide students with independence as they prepare for junior high.
