GCISD officials hire appraiser, approve planning committee The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees hired an appraiser for district property and approved a new planning committee at an Aug. 25 meeting. The gist Trustees budgeted $20,000 for an appraiser to determine the market price for the Heritage Annex located near Hall-John- son Road in Grapevine. The approved committee will look into recommendations to reduce facility and program costs or increase district revenue. Some ideas under consideration include selling the annex, consolidating elementary schools and expanding a program for gifted students to a stand-alone campus.

“We're looking at our kids that work hard, make good grades, but due to extenuating circumstances [or] test anxiety, they are worried about college admissions,” Gina Peddy, executive director of curriculum and instruction said. “[Automatic college acceptance] takes some of the stress and the pressure off.” Some scholarships may still require test scores, Peddy said.

The program, which comes at no cost to the district, waives application fees and certain test requirements for students, district officials said.
