Amid rising alarm over fraudulent activity within the hospice industry, Hope Hospice is stepping forward with a clear and public commitment to the values that have always guided its work: integrity, transparency, and genuine care for patients and families. Hope Hospice is using this moment not only to reaffirm its own standards, but to actively participate in broader efforts to hold the industry accountable and safeguard the future of end-of-life care. Patients may receive inadequate or inappropriate care. Families lose trust at a time when they are most vulnerable. And the reputation of every ethical provider - built over years of faithful service - is put at risk. “This isn’t just a regulatory problem - it’s a moral one,” Drummond said. “When people see hospice in the news for the wrong reasons, it shakes the confidence of patients and families who need to be able to trust us completely. We have a responsibility to speak up and to show what hospice is supposed to look like.” Standing Together for Accountability and Reform Hope Hospice has joined forces with the Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance (TNPHA)- an organization at the forefront of pushing for stronger ethical standards and greater transparency across the hospice industry.
TNPHA members appeared before the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee to advocate for meaningful reform and patient protections. The organization continues to engage through education, collaboration, and policy advocacy at both the state and national levels.
As part of these efforts, Hope Hospice is actively working to: • Champion ethical practices and demand greater accountability across the hospice industry. • Advocate for policy changes that shield patients, families, and Medicare resources from exploitation. • Expand awareness and education around what quality, trustworthy hospice care truly looks like.
