2-story retail project in the works near Gruene’s Historic District Developers with LGD 1 LLC are hoping to break ground on a two-story retail project at 1551 Gruene Road later this year. The overview The 65,000-square-foot retail project, currently named Shops at Lower Gruene, will be home to a mix of retail and restaurant space. $16M water storage project underway New Braunfels Utilities is on track to complete its FM 1044 Elevated Storage Tank project in December. The update During the week of April 27, the top of the tank was successfully hoisted into place at the top of the structure. Construction on the water infrastructure project, which is located at 1637 FM 1044, began in March 2025. The 2 million gallon storage tank will help maintain water pressure for NBU cus- tomers in the Morningside Pressure Zone.
The Shops at Lower Gruene will be located at 1551 Gruene Road in New Braunfels.
