On September 11, 2001, Lieutenant Joe Torrillo of the NYC Fire Department responded to the World Trade Center attacks. Joe ful lled his vow as a reman, risking his own life to save trapped victims. In the process, Joe himself was buried under tons of concrete and steel. During the four- year recovery from his life-threatening injuries, Joe faced a choice: succumb to self-pity or get back on his feet and face the future with the bravery of a Fireman.
