Coronado replaces previous Public Works Director Matt Rector, who now serves as city engineer. Coronado previously served for nearly a decade as the chief operating officer at the city of Austin Water Utility. HIGHLIGHTS PFLUGERVILLE On April 11, the city of Pflugerville applied for a Project Safe Neighborhood grant that if approved will provide $99,600 to be used toward the purchase of additional license plate-reading cameras at locations that have yet to be determined. The city previously purchased cameras in 2021 using another safe neighborhood grant.

regulations in Williamson County. Dave Porter, Williamson County Economic Development Partnership executive director, likened the Korean commerce ministry to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Porter said the KOTRA’s presence in Austin and Central Texas will allow the county to cultivate relationships with other companies in Korea. The move comes after a recent trip to the cities of Seoul and Pyeongtaek in Korea, during which elected officials from around Williamson County visited with executives of Samsung. Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said he expects several announcements to be made in the coming months regarding compa- nies to enter the area. “It’s really that we’re going to work in good faith on both sides to help them onboard if they choose to come to America,” Gravell said.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY Officials will continue to collaborate with Korean companies as Samsung makes progress on the construction of a $17 billion semiconductor plant in Taylor. Williamson County Commissioners Court approved an agreement April 25 with the Korea Trade-Investment Pro- motion Agency, which acts on behalf of the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. According to the agreement, Williamson County and the KOTRA will work together to support and advise Korean companies to invest and do business in Williamson County. The deal will also help broker relations with companies in Williamson County. The two parties agreed to share certain information with Korean companies regarding the business environment, official policies and

HUTTO The Brushy Creek Amphi- theater will soon be home to more events under a new agreement. Hutto City Council approved the agreement with venue manage- ment firm Directors of Chaos at an April 20 meeting. Under the agreement, which will run through December 2025, DOC will conduct events at Brushy Creek Amphitheater. DOC representative Chris Stone said the firm plans to organize approximately 10 concerts from July through the end of 2023, starting with lower-capacity events and building up to larger ones. New program to bring more public artwork to city of Pflugerville

can submit proposals for art pieces in Pflugerville parks, open spaces and city facilities. Proposals will undergo review by the library board, the parks and recre- ation commission, or the planning and zoning commission. Officials said there is no specific
theme or subject matter required for proposals, but reviewers will consider how the piece reflects Pflugerville’s culture and community. “I’m really excited,” Mayor Pro Tem Doug Weiss said. “Art is supposed to make you feel, and I leave the artistic direction to the artists.”

PFLUGERVILLE A new program called “Arts in Public Places” will help add public artwork across the city. Pflugerville City Council approved creation of the program at a March 28 meeting. Through the program, local artists
book only lower-volume acts until a sound shell can be constructed around the amphitheater. A $3 fee applied to all ticket sales for the theater will go toward constructing the sound shell.
