Inevitably when we begin a relationship with a new client, a question that is asked is-is now a good time to be putting money into the market? The simple answer is yes. For long-term investors market timing is irrelevant. Whether you pick the best days to invest or the worst, time has a way of erasing any short-term market timing “mistakes.” Many mutual fund companies have pieces that illustrate stellar long-term returns even if you pick the worst day to invest your money every year. So, the moral of the story is, especially for young people, start investing and quit worrying about short-term market volatility. In the long run it is time in the market, not timing the market.
