The project will add two nontolled high-occupancy-vehicle, or HOV, lanes stretching roughly 8 miles from Hwy. 290 down to Hwy. 71. The $4.5 billion infrastructure project will also lower the main lanes from Airport Boulevard to Lady Bird Lake and remove the upper decks, making room for a separate city of Austin initiative to add deck plazas. The transportation agency also outlines bicycle and pedestrian improvements, including 19 miles of new shared-use path, as well as bike-pedes- trian-only crossings constructed at Third Street, Fourth Street, 15th Street, 41st Street and 51st Street. Hutto annexes 20 acres for new neighborhood Hutto City Council approved on Nov. 7 the annexation of over 20 acres off Limmer Loop as well as a municipal services agreement to make way for a new single-family, rental neighborhood. The overview Council’s approval follows a previous develop- ment agreement the city entered into in Septem- ber with Urbana, a developer that intends to build 240 residential units on the property. As part of the services agreement, the city will provide emergency services and street mainte- nance, while the community will be connected to the Jonah Special Utility District water system. “[Urbana will] pay property taxes in the city, they’ll pay impact fees in the city and they’ll have to follow the development code, per the develop- ment agreement with the city,” Mayor Mike Snyder said. “Otherwise, without doing this, they can do

Pflugerville tax office closes for renovations The Travis County Tax Office at 15822 Foothill Farms Loop in Pflugerville will be closed from Nov. 6 until next summer for remodeling and expansion. Renovations to the tax office on Foothill Farms Loop are intended to “better serve the growing community,” according to a county news release. What residents need to know For vehicle registration renewal, owners can use the state online portal as well as certain H-E-B, AAA or Brookshire Brothers locations. Homeowners can pay property taxes on the county site through eCheck, which has a $1 fee. Pflugerville residents can also use Austin tax office locations during the closure.

Types of communities

Independent-living communities cater to older adults with limited care needs. Most include amenities, such as fitness programs, housekeeping and communal meals. Assisted-living communities specialize in providing care and supervision. These facilities frequently offer a full range of amenities as well as limited medical assistance. Memory care facilities specialize in providing care to seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive issues. Staff members are trained to help residents manage these diseases. Nursing home/skilled nursing facilities provide care to those with illnesses or mental conditions requiring full- time monitoring and medical care.
