Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission members recom- mended the city approve an updated site plan for The Rail- head, a mixed-use development currently being built in northwest Frisco, during a Nov. 12 meeting. The big picture The updates focus on three lots inside a portion of The Railhead between Branchline Street and Junction Street. That portion will now include an additional, larger Commission OKs additions for The Railhead project
hotel and additional retail and restaurant spaces instead of the original plan to feature an office building majority. The overall development spans over 80 acres of land located just south of Wakeland High School and west of the Dallas North Tollway. Other amenities and buildings planned throughout The Railhead include urban living residential buildings, three parking garages and multiple park spaces. What comes next? Commission members are expected to continue discussing details of the project, including specific building plans and land- scaping plans, at future meetings.

7.5M visitors came to Frisco in 2023
Visit Frisco Director Marla Roe said at the Nov. 19 meeting. “I am so proud of the Visit Frisco team,” Roe said in a news release. “Their passion and love for this city and our visitors shines through in their daily efforts. FY24 was another significant year of accomplishments for the team and our wonderful partners.” A fiscal year runs from Octo- ber-September. The city saw $15.9 million in earned media value during that time, a figure that represents the cost of advertising the city would have to put out to receive the same economic impact, according to the release.
Frisco officials said the city’s tourism industry has reached record-breaking heights. The gist According to data compiled by Visit Frisco, some of which was presented during a Nov. 19 Frisco City Council meeting, the city saw a record-breaking amount of money in fiscal year 2023-24 come into the city from nearly 8 million visitors during calendar year 2023.
