Construction is slated along a portion of East Main Street between Greenville and North Walton Street in Richardson. According to the city’s project map, work includes paving reconstruction along Main Street, which is expected to cost more than $6 million. Some context This is the second phase of a project along
City Manager Don Magner said the projected cost for the project is $6.5 million with funding sourced from both Dallas County grants and funds from a tax increment financing reinvestment zone. Construction will include paving, drainage improvements and landscaping, according to city documents. Work will take place starting at the intersection of Greenville and Main, extending just beyond the road’s intersection with Abrams Road. Per the project map, bids for the project closed Oct. 15, and Richardson City Council is expected to award a contract was also awarded to Urban Infraconstruction for just under $3.2 million for
Main Street within the city’s Core District, which includes the Chinatown, Downtown, Heights, Interurban and Lockwood neighborhoods. Previ- ous construction along Main Street, which had a cost of $21 million, wrapped up in mid-2021. Phase I of the Main Street reconstruction project consisted of infrastructure and aesthetic improvements from Sherman Street to Greenville Avenue and was completed in January 2022. Phase II will extend these improvements from Greenville Avenue to Abrams Road and includes Main Street, with paving, water, sewer, storm drainage laterals

and inlets replacement and barrier-free ramps at the intersections. It also includes planting trees, hardscaping and streetlights. The city has also invested in other Core District infrastructure with the $1.8 million construction along McKinney Street and the development of Interurban Park, which had a cost of around $5 million.
