Charm Taphouse & BBQ blends traditional Thai cuisine with Texas barbecue avors and craft beer
Bringing together the ery spices of authentic Thai food and the tradition of Texas barbecue, husband-and-wife duo Wanalee and Adam Gorelick launched their seventh restaurant, Charm Taphouse & BBQ, in June. Today, the Gorelicks have several restaurants operating in The Woodlands area, including Charm Thai Kitchen & Bar, Charm Thai Bistro and Charm Taphouse & BBQ as well as Noe’s Cafe. Operated alongside manager Rich Foreman, the eatery is designed for barbecue and Thai food fanat- ics and oers house-smoked meats slowly cooked in a re pit, fused with authentic Thai recipes. Craving something dierent? Merging two cuisines that are worlds apart, Adam Gorelick said it took months to develop the balance of Thai cuisine made with Texas’ smoked meats. From Thailand herself, Wanalee Gorelick said while Thai food can be quickly prepared, barbecue meats take hours to cook to perfection. Slowly smoked for over 16 hours, Charm Tap- house & BBQ oers a selection of smoked meats, including: • Brisket • Pork belly • Chicken • Housemade sausages
• Turkey breast Although the Gorelicks said the restaurant’s bar- becue and Thai cuisine could stand alone, merging the avors enhances each dish’s avors to provide a concept not found anywhere in the area. The Gorelicks said they believe that every customer leaves impressed with the avors of the fused cuisines. Must try menu items The menu oers an extensive selection of staple Thai dishes made with smoked meats. The Gorelicks said some must-try items include: • Charm Special Red Curry, which is made with sliced brisket placed on top of aromatic jasmine rice in coconut red curry, simmered with bamboo, bell peppers and basil. • A sausage sampler in which customers can choose three housemade sausages. • The Beef and Basil Burger consists of cured house-ground smoked prime beef, Kewpie mayo, green and red onion as well as jim jao, a popular Thai dipping sauce, and fontina cheese. Located at the former Tapped Drafthouse at the Marcel Town Center, Charm Taphouse & BBQ also oers over 30 craft beers to pair with their unique cuisine fusion as well as signature cocktails.
