1st Sugar Land brewery Talyard Brewing Co. to open A decadeslong friendship has culminated into Talyard Brewing Co., Sugar Land’s rst major brewery that will open in late September.
Talyard Brewing Co. owners Chuck Laughter (right) and Keith Teague met over 20 years ago.
The details Talyard will sell its own branded brews. They’ll also have a menu of “Southern comfort cuisine.” The brewery has space for 1,000 guests outside and 500 more inside, and features a stage, pickle- ball courts, a playground and ample seating. While a series of soft openings have and will continue to take place up until their September opening, Laughter said he’s most excited to see Talyard fully operational. “My wife and I were standing right there in the front as people were just streaming down the side- walk and coming up Imperial Boulevard,” Teague said. “And it was like, ‘OK, this isn’t ours anymore. This is the community’s now.’”
Owners Chuck Laughter and Keith Teague met at a pool over 20 years ago, they said. With kids around the same age, their friendship was forged through backyard barbecues and coaching Little League games. They purchased plots and built homes right next to each other in 2007. “The name Talyard means Teague and Laugh- ter yard,” Teague said. “It’s like the backyard, and all those good times we spent in our backyard. It really embodies what we wanted to create: a place for families and friends to gather and enjoy that vibe.”
