San Antonio St., San Marcos, has started a grant program called the Monsegue Grant for Aspiring Entrepre- neurs. The minority-owned business opened in San Marcos at the end of 2022 and is working to get more involved in the community, DMJ nancial analyst Joseph Rodriguez said. Any graduating high school senior planning to attend a two- or four-year university is eligible for the grant; students do not need to be seeking a degree in business but must have an idea for a business. DMJ will be giving out ve $1,000 grants; there is a soft deadline of May 1, but students may submit an application after that date as long as it is before the start of the fall semester. Applications can be found on the DMJ Facebook and Instagram. 9 The San Marcos City Council gave the green light for a new “gateway mural” on the back of the former Hays County Jus- tice Center, located at 110 E. MLK Drive, on March 21. The building is now home to In- dustry, AquaBrew, Little Caesars Pizza and

NOW OPEN 1 Amanda Alexander and her friends opened Southwest Training , a strength and conditioning gym located at 212 W. San Antonio St., Ste. A, San Marcos, on Jan. 23. Alexander said the lack of strength and conditioning gyms in the area pushed her to create that environment for her friends and the community.
