BEAR BRANCH PARK The Haunting of Bear Branch Park returns on Fridays and Saturdays through October for families to enjoy. This year’s event features mazes, twists and tunnels along with a panic room. The festival will feature vendor booths and food, and entertainment options include face painting, balloons, a photo booth, old-fashioned carnival games and prize giveaways. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free. The event will include costumes, trunk-or-treat stops, carnival games, face art, balloon art and concessions available for purchase. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item. 6 p.m. Free. Sponsors of the event will see their money funding annual grants to Deretchin, Smith and Coulson Tough elementary schools. 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Free. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best glow-in-the-dark costumes. The race is recommended for age 10 and older. The course will incorporate the entire length of the Waterway and is chip timed. Race day registration is not available. 7 p.m. $35. Entertainment and activities will include market vendors and food trucks, and dozens of pets will be available for adoption. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free. Rob Fleming Park Recreation Center, 6464 Creekside Forest Drive, The Woodlands. 281-210-3800. www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov FREE KID NOVEMBER 05 SMASH PUMPKINS WITH THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP The Woodlands Township’s Pumpkin Smash allows residents to dispose of their Halloween pumpkins and jack-o’- lanterns. There is no limit on the number of pumpkins attendees may bring. Residents may choose how they would like to smash their pumpkins—a catapult, a baseball bat or a 30-foot drop. Residents must wear safety goggles, gloves and closed-toe shoes. Safety gear is available to borrow at the event. Free. 4-6 p.m. Sterling Ridge Park and Ride, 80001 McBeth Way, The Woodlands. 281-210-3800. www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov FREE KID FEATURED EVENT Take part in the Wine Walk OCT. 6 Wine and Food Week will host the 18th annual Wine Walk with the theme “Illuminated.” Attendees are encouraged to put on their favorite light-up attire or use the light sticks and glow necklaces that will be provided. More than 40 wine tasting tents will be set up, and more than 40 beer selections as well as dozens of culinary oerings from area businesses will be available.

12 THROUGH 13 JOURNEY UNDER WATER WITH TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL Texas Children’s Hospital-The Woodlands hosts its Children’s Festival featuring multiple performers, character meet and greets, a toddler area, arts and crafts, and other hands-on activities. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Sat.), noon-5 p.m. (Sun.) $10. The event will culminate with the illumination of giant doves to symbolize peace in the community. Other festival activities include face painting, balloon art and crafts. Attendees may purchase a $5 wristband for access to snow play areas and snow slides. 3-8 p.m. Free.
