ELECTIONS November election includes multiple local races in The Woodlands area

regarding his decision. “I just turned 71, and I’ve given the board six years, and it’s time to move on.” According to information posted on The Woodlands Township website, Brad Bailey and Craig Rickard filed as candidates for Position 1; Linda Nel- son and incumbent Jason J. Nelson filed for Position No. 2; incumbent John Anthony Brown and Richard Franks filed for Position 3; and Kyle Watson and Steve Lawrence filed for Position 4. Area school districts Positions 1, 2 and 3 on the Conroe ISD board of trustees are up for election Nov. 8. As of the end of the filing period Aug. 22, 10 candidates had filed applications; however, the applications for Position 1 candidate Rachel Walker and Position 3 incum- bent Skeeter Hubert were rejected for being incomplete. Position 1 Trustee Dale Inman is not running for re-election. The Position 1 candidates are Evan Berlin, Ashley Fehrle, Serafin Farias, Tiffany Nelson and Mike Midler. Running for Position 2 are incumbent Ray Sanders and challenger Melissa Dungan. Position 3 candidate Misty Odenweller is unopposed because Hubert’s application was rejected. In Tomball ISD, 11 candidates are running for four positions on the board. Magnolia ISD held board elections in May, but it placed a $232 million bond package on the Nov. 8 ballot for items including new Residents of Harris County will vote on a $1.2 billion bond in November. Residents will vote on three key areas—$900 million for roads, drainage and multimodal transpor- tation; $200 million for parks; and $100 million for public safety facili- ties—in separate bond referendums. Based on estimated 2022 tax values, the average homeowner would pay an additional $31 a year in property taxes, schools and buses. Harris County bond

In addition to deciding on state races such as governor and midterm elections in U.S. Congress, residents of The Woodlands area will have several local races to decide on when they go to polls Nov. 8. The Woodlands Four seats are available on the township’s board of directors for positions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each position is for a two-year term. The seats are held by Gordy Bunch, Jason J. Nelson, John Anthony Brown and Bruce Rieser, respectively. The positions are nonpartisan. Bunch and Rieser did not file for re-election. “I only planned on running two terms when I initially ran back in 2016, and in 2020 we were in the middle of a pandemic and I didn’t feel like I could walk away at that point,” Rieser said Two incumbents on The Woodlands Township board of directors will not seek re-election, and a total of eight candidates will seek the four open two-year positions.
