LEANDER ISD The Leander ISD board of trustees began its materials selection process to add new courses for the 2023-24 school year at the Sept. 22 meeting. This school year, the district will be looking to adopt materials for the following new courses: K-12 social studies, psychology, sociology and nancial literacy, American Sign Language IIV, Chinese IIV, AP U.S. history and AP calculus AB & BC. These materials will be for implementation in fall 2023. LISD is in the middle of the new course proposal process, which means the district could add new options to the slate of courses to be oered next year. If additional courses are added, the board will be notied. District sta plans to seek nal approval of the board in March or April.

EANES ISD As part of a potential future $110 million-$130 million bond, the Eanes ISD board of trustees discussed safety and security priorities for the district at the Oct. 4 meeting. Immediate concerns for the district are re alarm system upgrades, facility safety improvements, adding or updating security cameras and emergency communications, and cybersecurity, costing $1.38 million-$2.25 million each. Additional priorities include communication system enhancements and the purchase of emergency medical equipment districtwide, costing $214,000 and $100,000, respectively. In addition to these line items, the district is considering allocating $1.52 million to improved signage

across the district. Safety and security is allocated $9.05 million total in these initial estimates. If the district decides to move forward with the bond, a bond election could potentially be held in May or November 2023. The bond will not raise the tax rate, according to district documents.
