BUSINESS FEATURE Red Horn Coee House and Brewing Co. Building community is central to craft brewery, co ee roastery D uring a fateful family road trip in 2014, Chad Misner and Jon Lamb found they shared an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for craft beer and specialty coee. Combining Misner’s experience teaching high school business classes and Lamb’s experience managing a coee roaster, the two joined together to open Red Horn Coee House and Brewing Co. in Cedar Park in March 2015. The business added a Leander location in June 2021. “Before you knew it, we had a full-blown business plan for Red Horn,” Misner said. “Instead of either a coee shop or craft beer bar, it was incorporating the production of both of the things that we love.” Misner and Lamb placed an emphasis on being active owners—working long days with one of the two always in the building—to ensure they were cultivat- ing an inclusive environment. When selecting brews, the team considers year- round and seasonal options, such as hoppy blends, pale ales, IPAs, stouts, and lagers. All of the beers are made at the Leander location by Zach Gardner, the head brewer and a fellow co-founder. Although Red Horn’s beers and coee roasts can now be found in HEBs and other local retailers throughout the Austin area, the team plans to add to its retail footprint with more locations, Misner said. “We set out to provide a space for community, and we’re seeing how that community has transformed relationships, whether it be sta that met here now getting married or customers who met at Red Horn on a blind date now having their rst kids,” Misner said. “That to us is success, but we’re not done yet.” BY BIANCA MORENOPAZ
