Several positions up for a vote in Kyle, San Marcos Candidates have filed to run for open positions in the cities of San Marcos, Buda and Kyle. In a nutshell The filing period for the general election Nov. 7 ended Aug. 21. More than a dozen individuals have applied to run in the upcoming election for their respective races. The city of San Marcos will have races for City Council places 3 and 4. The city of Kyle have the mayor and Districts 2 and 4 on the ballot. In Buda, the terms for mayor and two City Council members are up. However, the incumbents were the only ones to submit applications by the filing deadline, according to the city’s website. Therefore, Buda City Council voted to cancel the races since there are no opponents.

Buda acquires land for Garison Park The city of Buda announced Aug. 8 that it acquired 4.5 acres of land that will be added to Garison Park, which will be completed through the city’s 2021 bond. What they’re saying “Acquisition of this property was a priority for City Council as it creates opportunities to better connect our trail system and to build out the future Garison Park,” City Manager Micah Grau said in the release.
