Household hazardous waste cleanup Williamson County will host a hazardous waste collection event for residents to safely dispose of materials. Residents may bring items such as antifreeze, brake fluid, pesticides, paint and more, limited to five gallons per vehicle. • Oct. 25, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. • Free (admission) • 3151 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown • www.wilcotx.gov U.S. Marine Band Concert The United States Marine Band will perform a free concert at the Klett Performing Arts Center as part of the band’s tour. Community members can reserve up to four free tickets per request. • Oct. 27, 7:30-9:30 p.m. • Free (admission) Domestic Violence Awareness Month event The Georgetown Police Victim Services unit will host an event to raise funds to support victims of crime and domestic violence. 9th annual Field of Honor A collaboration between the city of Georgetown and the Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation, the display will include 2,000 American flags, which can be purchased and dedicated to a veteran, active or reserve- duty military, first responder, or K-9 or equestrian who served. An opening ceremony will take place Nov. 9, and include Captain Dave Carey as the keynote speaker and the 36th Infantry Band from Camp Mabry. The Veterans Day Ceremony will take place on Nov. 11 with keynote speaker Major General Scott Efflandt and a cake-cutting ceremony. • Nov. 8-16 • Free (admission) • 445 E. The event will recognize veterans and their families, and include a performance from the East View High School band and orchestra. Col. Paul F. Howe, a retired U.S. Army chaplain will be a guest speaker.
Hazardous waste collection event The city of Georgetown will host a collection event for hazardous waste materials such as batteries, cellphones, hearing aids and pool chemicals. Participants must register online prior to the event. Registration will be capped at 500 people. In order to participate, community members must be customers of the Texas Disposal Systems in the city of Georgetown. • Nov. 1, 9 a.m.-noon • Free (if participant pays for solid waste services Williamson County 50-year 5K run To celebrate 50 years of Williamson County EMS, runners can gather for a 5K walk or run and a children’s 1K at River Ranch Country Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center. Cowboy Casino 9th Annual Soirèe: A Coming Together for Kids Williamson County invites the community to attend the Cowboy Casino Soirèe benefiting The Georgetown Project, the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown and The Georgetown Family YMCA.
