Acupuncture: Practitioners stimulate speci c points on the body, most often by inserting thin needles through the skin in an eˆort to cause a change in the body’s physical functions. Acupuncture, which is part of traditional Chinese medicine practices, can be used to treat chronic pain. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome: This group of hereditary disorders weakens the connective tissue that supports skin, bones, blood vessels and organs. Symptoms of EDS include loose joints, fragile blood vessels, abnormal scar formation and wound healing, and soft, stretchy skin that bruises easily. Hypermobility: This is the term used to describe the ability to extend joints beyond the normal range of movement with little eˆort. Commonly aˆected joints include elbows, wrists, ngers and knees. Hypermobility may lead to arthritis, dislocated joints, sprains or strains.
