Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage o ers pirate excursions
Designed and created by Leroy Herbert, Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage is a pirate-themed ship located in Lake Conroe. The 44-foot replica of an ancient galleon opened in 2021 and is inclusive of all ages. “I built that ship by myself with my hands and I built these docks myself by hand,” Herbert said. “I [wanted] to have a place where everyone was invited and everyone can have fun.” The framework Originally from the Caribbean, Herbert realized the need for a water sports destination in the Conroe area in 2017 and started a business by o ering jet ski, boat and kayak rentals. “The people are here, the water is here, the weather is here so why not here?” Herbert said. Herbert’s initial main attraction was a party boat that carries 55 passengers and can take passengers to Margaritaville where they can jump o the boat into oats and water mats. “We realized we were still not inviting the little babies and the older ones and people in [wheel- chairs],” Herbert said. “So we wanted everyone to be included and decided an attraction is missing. Something where everyone can be a part of and in general anyone can love.” Years later, in an e ort to be more inclusive of younger generations, Herbert decided to add the Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage. With a capacity of 50 people, the Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage is
able to host up to 47 people at a time. Amenities include a bathroom, a bar, music and lights. Diving in deeper Those interested in the Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage can book the Adventure Tour online for $47 for adults and $34 for children with tours taking place from April-October. The tour includes a captain and team of pirates that engage with participants from beginning to end with witty banter, singing, dancing and pirate-themed activities such as sword ghting, a treasure hunt and cannon explosions. “These guys consider themselves real pirates. Some of them have been pirates since they were kids,” Herbert said. “These are grown men and women who are taking care of everyone on board.” The Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage also o ers private event rentals for up to 42 guests, a pirate show, music, unlimited soft drinks and two alcoholic beverages. Additionally, The Jolly Pirate Adventure Voyage hosts special events such as a July 4 rework cruise and concert cruises. “We de nitely are a part of the community,” Herbert said. “One of my biggest dreams was to change the culture and get everybody to relax a little bit because you’re on the water. I know you live here but relax, because where you live can be fun.”
