Veterans nd solace at 85-year-old VFW post It’s Army veterans like Ely Clapp and Matthew Keen who nd solace in Tomball VFW Post 2427. The nonpro t, made up of a total of 569 veterans, is a chartered local entity of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Keen, who is the senior vice commander of the Tomball VFW, said it gives a place for veterans to interact with other veterans. The post also gives assistance to veterans. “We want to make sure that all the veterans know we’re here and that we can help them,” Clapp, who is the post commander, said. This year, it celebrates its 85th anniversary, and held a banquet dinner on Oct. 21 to celebrate. for their service. Eventually, these groups evolved into chapters like Tomball VFW Post 2427. Looking ahead The post supports itself through dues from the members, renting out its hall, hosting dances and collecting donations. However, Keen said the post wants to continue to grow. “My goal is to expand and do more for vets,” Keen said.
