HISD moves forward with schematic design for high school No. 2 An ongoing project to expand the district’s ninth grade center into a second comprehensive high school in Hutto ISD has passed another major milestone, with trustees approving a sche- matic design for updates to the campus Aug. 22. What you need to know Designed by VLK Architects, the same firm that designed the recently completed Gus Almquist Middle School, the new schematics show the school will be designed for a maximum capacity of 2,400 students. The expansion of the campus will include flexible learning spaces, an outdoor events plaza and a significantly different entrance than what is currently in place. ACC receives $200K from Samsung Austin Community College has received additional funding to go to its semiconduc- tor training program with $200,000 coming from Samsung Austin Semiconductor, the college announced in a news release. The gist The ACC board of trustees accepted the gift from Samsung during a regular meeting Sept. 9, and announced plans to invest the dollars into the Semiconductor Technician Advanced Rapid Start program, or STARS. The four-week program offers students a pathway into manufacturing technician roles by providing theoretical and hands-on training. While the school has previously offered the program at only its Highland campus, the latest funding will allow ACC to offer it at its Round Rock campus.

developing the final design of the school. Last May, voters approved the use of $522 million to expand and improve district facilities as HISD is growing. Construction on the build-out of the ninth grade center to a full high school is set to begin in June 2025 and will take about two years to complete, representatives of VLK Architects said.
