More multifamily housing options on the way to Cy-Fair

More than 1,200 multifamily housing units are under construction or planned in Cy-Fair, accord- ing to a March 11 report from MRI ApartmentData. This includes traditional apartments, senior living and build-to-rent single-family homes. What’s happening About 1,600 apartment units and 640 build-to- rent homes have opened in the region in the past 12 months, per the report. MRI ApartmentData reports new units planned for the area include 182 senior living units and 184 build-to-rent homes. MRI ApartmentData shows the Jersey Village/ Cypress submarket, which includes neighbor- hoods between Hwy. 290 and Hwy. 249, has seen the average rent decrease 3% year over year from $1,412 to $1,370. Occupancy was 86.4% as of February. In the Bear Creek/FairŽeld/CopperŽeld area—primarily south of Hwy. 290—the average rent declined 1.8% year over year from $1,254 to $1,231, and occupancy was 91.5% as of February.
