Georgetown ISD board of trustees will meet June 19 at 7 p.m. in the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning at 507 E. She said she is humbled the community gave her the opportunity to continue her work on the board, pointing to the importance of the superintendent search. Blanck said she is looking for a superintendent who is data driven and transparent. HIGHLIGHTS GEORGETOWN ISD District ocials gathered on April 19 and May 2 to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Benold Middle School campus and San Gabriel Elementary School, respectively. The new facilities— both funded by Georgetown ISD’s 2021 bond—will accommodate the growing northwest portion of the district. Both schools will open ahead of the 2024-25 school year. GEORGETOWN ISD Incumbent Trustee Stephanie Blanck won re-election to Place 4 by a narrow 51.54% margin, edging out

GEORGETOWN ISD The board of trustees will spend the summer searching for a new superintendent after Fred Brent announced his retirement April 3. What’s happening: Board mem- bers and a team from Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates—the rm leading the search for Brent’s replacement—began the process during a workshop meeting May 1. • Jodi Duron with HYAA said the district had received three applications as of May 1. • Duron said HYAA expects the district will receive about 40-50 applications for the position. • In the meantime, the board appointed Lindsay Harris, GISD’s chief strategist for leadership and culture, to serve as interim superintendent.
GEORGETOWN ISD Elementary School No. 11, located in the Santa Rita Ranch neighborhood, will be named San Gabriel Elementary School after Georgetown’s prominent geographic feature, the San Gabriel River. Additionally, during their April 17 meeting, trustees selected the Future Ready Complex as the formal name for the district facility on Air- port Road that will house advanced career and technical education programs; Bridges 18+, a program that serves students with special needs for up to four years after high school; Richarte High School, the district’s academic alternative school; the early learning center; and the health and wellness center. Both facilities are funded by the 2021 bond and are slated to open ahead of the 2024-25 school year.
