Conroe OKs North Loop 336 intersection updates Intersection improvements are expected at the intersection of I-45 and North Loop 336 in Conroe after City Council approved the project upgrades during its Sept. 12 meeting. The gist The $1.5 million approved capital improvement project will include roadway widening along North Loop 336, installation of a new traffic signal and removal of some of the existing traffic signals, according to the agenda packet. Jerdon Enterprise, LP was awarded the bid, and the project is expected to be complete in 150 days, per the agenda packet. The breakdown Public Works Director Norman McGuire said during the Sept. 11 workshop meeting that the updates will include:
Amtrak to get $63.9M for high-speed rail Amtrak will receive a $63.9 million federal grant for Texas Central’s high-speed rail project connecting Houston to Dallas, per the Federal Railroad Administration. What we know The FRA is waiting for Amtrak officials to submit documents to review before awarding the grant, said William Wong, a FRA public affairs representative. After Amtrak officials submit the pre-award documents and the grant is awarded, the project enters the project development phase, Wong said, which includes reviewing the final design and environmental reviews. However, construction doesn’t begin directly after completion of the next phase, Wong said. Another round of funding would be needed.
