Conroe ISD begins rezoning process for new schools

A Travis County district court again blocked the Texas Education Agency from releasing its A-F accountability ratings for Texas school districts and campuses Sept. 18. What’s happening In a petition filed Sept. 16, more than 30 school districts argued that TEA Commis- sioner Mike Morath failed to fix “mistakes” made to the A-F accountability system. A TEA spokesperson told Community Impact the agency plans to appeal; however, the injunction will remain unless a new ruling is issued, according to documents. The release of the ratings was blocked from its original Aug. 15 release date. A trial is set in Travis County for Feb. 10.

Campbell Elementary

Conroe ISD trustees were introduced to the pro- posed rezoning process for two of the district’s new elementary schools at the board’s Sept. 17 meeting. The gist Mittie J. Campbell Elementary School and W. Robert Eissler Elementary School will open in August 2025 serving the Oak Ridge and Caney Creek high schools, and The Woodlands High School, respectively. Parents with children who will be affected by the new schools and boundaries will receive a let- ter soon, Assistant Superintendent Chris McCord said in the meeting. “We take this very seriously.
