The Rodriguez family loves feed- ing the community and even did so during the winter storm in 2021, she said. Rodriguez said because the restaurant’s grill and stove are gas, the family was cooking for themselves despite not having any electricity. She said nearby residents saw cars in the lot and came in asking if Lone Star Cheladas was open. She said they did not turn anyone away. In addition, Rodriguez said she has struggled to nd employees for the restaurant. “We overcome everything that comes our way,” she said.

her husband Ramiro and their son try to give customers something they enjoy eating. One of those things is Mary’s Spicy Shrimp, a family recipe she and her husband make together. “I wanted the customers to taste something that I love,” Rodriguez said. She said she perfected the recipe after making it 20 times because there was always something missing. It is a secret recipe that few people know and always leaves the customers wishing they had ordered the pound instead of a half-pound, she said.
