Alvin ISD will not meet state bus requirement Alvin ISD’s board of trustees approved a reso- lution at its March 17 meeting stating the district does not have the nancial capacity to meet state requirements to retro t or replace school buses without three-point seat belts by September 2029. Cost to the district Under Senate Bill 546, passed by the 89th Texas Legislature, all school buses operated by Texas districts must be equipped with three-point seat belts for every rider by Sept. 1, 2029. With replacement costs estimated at $165,000 per bus, the projected expenses include $627,116 to retro t 21 International buses and $12 million to replace 73 Blue Bird buses, according to district documents. PISD partners with ADAPT program Pearland ISD board of trustees approved a partnership at its March 17 meeting with ADAPT, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Preven- tion and Treatment, programs to support substance abuse prevention e orts for students across the district. Zooming in The ADAPT program, which comes at no cost to the district, provides services for students, including presentations, group activities and outreach events focused on substance abuse prevention and support, according to district documents.
