Redevelopment coming for vacant Luby’s At its Oct. 2 meeting, Tomball City Council unanimously approved an alcohol variance for 28750 Hwy. 249, Tomball—the site of a vacant Luby’s restaurant—which will allow for alcohol sales within 300 feet of Tomball ISD’s prekinder- garten center. In its presentation to council, BCS Capital Group, which owns the property Luby’s sits on, shared conceptual design plans that propose redeveloping the building to accommodate up to three new restaurant tenants. Magnolia’s 4B Corp. initiates parks plan At its Oct. 12 meeting, the Magnolia Economic Development 4B Corp. approved a professional services agreement with Burditt Consultants LLC, which will develop a parks master plan. In a nutshell According to the agreement, Burditt Consultants LLC will be paid $72,000 for: • Conducting inventory of existing city- owned parks and properties and identify- ing conservation opportunities • Compiling information on demographics • Evaluating recreation program and budget • Gathering input Development of the plan will take around 10 months, according to the agreement.

Additionally, BCS Capital Group is proposing three outdoor patios of various sizes. “The plan is to utilize the area that we’re at,” BCS Capital Group’s David Kreston said during the meeting. “We’re at the Four Corners of Tomball; we’re at the entrance to the city. And so our vision is something similar to a Creekside[-area development]—where you have the restaurants; you have the play area where kids can play, where people can sit outside, enjoy their food and drink and have a family-friendly atmosphere.”

Tomball purchases property for possible City Hall site Tomball City Council approved the $2.4 million purchase of approximately 2.6 acres at 810 W. Main St., Tomball, during a special meeting Oct. 9 for a possible site for a new City Hall, Mayor Lori Klein Quinn said. The gist Oct. 2, Tom Condon, the city’s Realtor with Colliers International, said during the meeting. Klein Quinn said the building on the property will be razed.
“The reason for this purchase is ... that could be a future City Hall to move onto Main Street and expand. We are out of space, and so that is the pur- pose of this, and there would be lots of meetings to discuss if this will work,” she said.
