Tomball ISD staff update Creekside-area plans After receiving a feasibility study from archi- tects, Tomball ISD leaders recommended against building a planned $54.6 million intermediate school at the Creekside Park Junior High property on Oct. 10 to relieve elementary schools in the Creekside area. Current situation The study examined whether the planned inter- mediate school could be built at Creekside Park Junior High instead of at the Tomball Innovation Center after the district received backlash from Creekside-area parents in April. Jim Ross—TISD’s director of projects and devel- opment for 2021 bond projects—said the architect’s feasibility study found: • The intermediate school would “significantly crowd” CPJH’s building.

• Outdoor activities at CPJH and the interme- diate school would experience “significant limitation.” • Traffic issues would be created on Creekside Green Drive. • The site has limited utility capacity that may not be sufficient to serve two schools. • Drainage issues would require additional under- ground detention. • Permitting would be difficult and expensive. “We’re out of time,” Ross said. “I won’t be able to get [the intermediate school] built if we don’t move on.” No action was taken during the meeting.

"It is exciting to have a homegrown Magnolia graduate giving back to the community through his service on the board." TODD STEPHENS, SUPERINTENDENT
