Locally owned candle, crystal shop keeps thriving Michelle Rexilius and her husband, Rex, began their journey of candle making from home before opening a candle shop named New Braunfels Candle and Crystal Co. in March 2016. How it happened in dierent scents such as Strawberry Fields, Rosemary Sage and River Rain.

New Braunfels Candle and Crystal Co. also hosts pouring parties, where groups of up to 18 individ- uals can customize a candle. Participants will be guided through the process of making a candle to take home. Incorporating a fragrance into a candle adds a new level to the therapeutic part of that candle burning process, Rexilius said. “We like to focus on the fun stu, which is blending fragrances,” she said. Aside from candles, New Braunfels Candle and Crystal Co. sells crystals, jewelry, smudge sticks, honey and more.
The decision to open a storefront came after their hobby began to overload their home, and as entrepreneurs, the couple decided to take on a challenge by opening a new business, Rexilius said. “It’s hard to go back and think about how small we were then and where we are now,” she said.
