Hutto schools designated Purple Star Campuses Hutto ISD is just one campus away from having all schools in the district deemed a Purple Star Campus by the Texas Education Agency. What you need to know According to the TEA, a Purple Star Campus is a designation recognizing support and commitment to meeting the needs of military service members and their families. The designation was created by the 86th Texas Legislature in 2020. In that time, all but one of HISD’s schools has earned the designation. Zoning to shift ahead of new elementary Some Hutto ISD elementary students will be at a new school next year: Lee Martinez Elementary. The district broke ground on the new school in May, and it is expected to open in time for the start of the 2025-26 school year, district administrators say. What you need to know In preparation for the school’s opening next fall, administrators say they will begin the rezoning process for elementary attendance zones in October. The process will be similar to the one used to rezone attendance boundaries for the opening of Gus Almquist Middle School, said Dustin Barton, HISD’s assistant superinten- dent of operations, in September.
