Hutto capital projects continue in 2024-25 Last fiscal year, Hutto worked on 61 Capital Improvement Plan projects across the transportation, water, wastewater and parks and recreation departments. The gist City Engineer Matt Rector said in an Oct. 17 City Council meeting there were a total of 61 projects, including 54 “true” projects and seven studies, analyses or plans. Of the 61 projects, the city completed 20. Looking ahead City officials are now looking at using available funding for new projects. There are 41 CIP projects carried over from last year and 18 more have been added, including a drainage master plan and American Disability Act transition plan.
County officials ink deal for affordable housing Travis County commissioners approved two contracts Sept. 17 with local nonprofits to add just over 200 new units of affordable housing in Austin. The details Nonprofit housing organization Foundation Com- munities received a contract for $15 million to help fund its new three-story multifamily project, to be known as Burleson Studios. The 79,500-square-foot building will feature 104 units geared toward single adults experiencing homelessness. The second, $13 million contract was awarded to youth advocate group LifeWorks, which will use the funding on The Works III project at 701 Tillery St., Austin. The housing development will reserve 120 units for permanent supportive housing at 50% median family income, including 96 continuum of care units intended for individuals experiencing homelessness

and also those aging out of foster care. County funding for these projects comes from $110 million in American Rescue Plan Act federal dollars set aside for supportive housing. Since 2021, 11 projects and 10 nonprofits have received funding.
