“I want to oer service like you can’t get anywhere else, and that’s a hard commodity in today’s world to go into,” Spanier said. “To go into a business and get the service and the friendliness and that home feeling. … I just want people to have a sense of belonging.” Spanier said he has been in the laundry business for 25 years and has lived in the Conroe area since 1979. He said he chose to open his business locally with the help of his family to become a part of the community. “Putting it together was … real cool because it was a family deal,” Spanier said. “My whole family, they got behind me to help me open it up, and it’s a family operation, and that’s what’s nice.”

The business’ laundry services allows customers to save time and money with next-day service, Spanier said. Services are oered by the pound, by the bag provided for $24.99 or by the monthly wash club rate of $83.99. It caters to Lake Conroe vacationers as well, Spanier said, by providing next-day laundry service for traveling families. “You just save a lot of money versus sending it out to get done, dry cleaned and pressed and everything, and most fabrics today have really changed a lot where you don’t have to press them,” Spanier said. In addition, the Chute aims to build relationships with customers while providing an excellent cus- tomer experience, Spanier said.

The Chute’s proximity to Lake Conroe allows the business to serve vacationers.

winter storm hit the Houston area. The water for the building had not been turned on yet, so it never froze, owner Marvin Spanier said, allowing The Chute to open when the power was restored to help residents struggling with broken pipes and no power. “People just from everywhere would call and just bring clothes in to wash, dry, fold because all their pipes are frozen or broken,” Spanier said. “I’m just glad we were able to be there to help them.” The Chute laundry service in Con- roe oers wash, dry, hang and wash, and fold services as well as cares for linens, comforters and rugs.
