If elected, what steps would you take to improve transportation locally?

How do you plan to address drainage and ooding issues in the precinct?

Communication with our community is imper- ative to understand and address issues. I will partner with [the Texas Department of Trans- portation] to address the FM 2854 expansion. Analyzation of highly traveled roads for potential expansion. Elementary schools on highly traveled roads need a carline road lane to improve trac ow and safety. Developers should carry their fair share of costs for road construction leading to their neighborhoods so the county can better utilize our budget to manage mobility issues.

We’ve already addressed mobility in several areas, which improved situations [such as Hwy]. 249, Grand Pines, Fishcreek Thoroughfare, etc., but with the epic amount of growth in our area, we knowwe’ll need to do more. … Precinct 2 currently is undergoing a $500,000mobility study with Houston-Galveston Area Council, which will identify needed projects and will also secure funding from state funds to address those needs. …We are working with TxDOT for a [Hwy.] 242 overpass heading east to reduce the congestion and safety issues in that area.

I plan to address the drainage and ooding is- sues in East Montgomery County how they’ve never been addressed before—with a plan. We will stage out this part of the county, working months ahead of each section attaining the proper permissions, 811 agging, mapping and staging. This way we can plan, coordinate and communicate to the public where [we] will be working and what we are doing, so if they need to adjust, they can do so accordingly. We can also plan around the growth in this area, where new areas are being developed.

As commissioner, I’ve attacked drainage and ooding head on. Precinct 4 has over 900 miles of roads and 1,800 miles of drainage ditches to maintain. When I took oce, I reorganized my department and brought more heavy equipment online to increase the pace of drainage improvement and our crews continue to make steady progress on the problem. Ad- ditionally, we have xed issues in problem ooding areas like Ada Lane, Smith Lane and Daw Collins Road.
