seafood, chicken-fried meats, tacos, enchiladas, burgers and desserts. One of the “JAK Originals” is a pesto-marinated crab stued chicken, which is a grilled chicken breast stued with blue crab, red bell peppers and jack cheese, a potato cake, vegetables and cajun cream sauce. “My No. 1 goal was to honestly get six people from anywhere in the country all at one table and nd something on the menu that [they] want,” Gilmore said. The restaurant oers margaritas, specialty cocktails, wine, cider, local beers and mocktails. “Back in 2009, we were the rst restaurant to feature only local beers on tap,” Kamm said. “And to this day, we still adhere to that.”
In December 2009, Gilmore and Kamm opened the rst Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Oak Hill, bringing a menu of Southern-inspired plates. The duo has since opened six locations in the Austin area, along with two other concepts: Salt Traders Coastal Cooking and Day Maker Half Day Cafe.
