The Millers said their customers range from agriculture students looking for feed to regulars buying gifts to those who just drop by to introduce their out-of-state parents to the couple. Because the business has been around for over four decades, they have customers who came in as children with their parents, the couple said. “We have treat bags—suckers, bubble gum, Smarties—we oer to the young ones,” Coy said. “We have people coming in here in their 40s and want to know if we still have the treat bags.” In addition to being a longtime Frisco business owner, Coy has also invested in his community. He served extensively on the Frisco Chamber of Commerce board and Frisco ISD board, he said. In 2016, FISD named an elementary school after him, Coy Miller Elementary, which is in Little Elm. Regarding what is on the horizon, Coy said, “I’m 76 years old in June. As long as my health will hold, we intend to be here because we both love it.”

She said quite often people bring in samples of weeds from their yards for Coy to diagnose. “Coy is pretty much an expert on helping people get rid of weeds, fungus in grass and black spots on roses,” Diane said. Coy opened Pardner’s Garden & Feed Store in Frisco in 1978. He said he did it in part to get a cheaper price on feed since, at that time, he was raising cattle as well as farming wheat and hay in the Frisco area. Over time, Coy and Diane added merchandise to accommodate the changing demographics. “My brother-in-law calls it the designer feed store, because we’ve gone from basic health [products] and feed to being a diverse store where you can buy gifts and all the dierent supplies we sell,” Coy said.
