Respecting the craft The rst iteration of Delices de Maurice was established in 1996 in Srour’s hometown of Beirut, Lebanon. From there, Srour served as head bakery chef at hotels in Lagos, Nigeria. He said he’s been an employee, a head chef and a business owner. “When you’re responsible [for the team], it’s your product and your customers,” Srour said. “But you respect the table, respect the food and the people you are working with, whether [you] are the owner or the employee.”

Six-decade-old multigenerational recipes are the hallmark of French bakery Delices de Maurice, owner and pastry chef Dany Srour said. Srour said he wanted to celebrate his father, who opened a bakery in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1963, by continuing the craft. “Our bedroom window was facing the street above the bakery. We were in and out; when we nished school, we’d go work in the bakery,” Srour said. From the oven Some of Delices de Maurice’s most popular items are the croissants and its French bread.
