Women Empowering Women Luncheon On April 9, the 12th Annual Women Empowering Women Luncheon raised nearly $170,000 for Interfaith Community Clinic’s work serving uninsured and underinsured residents of Montgomery County. The luncheon also celebrates the kicko of observing the clinic’s 30th anniversary this fall. 1 Dr. Anita Gill, Dr. Loren Rourke, Dr. Adrienne Blessing, Lauren Lococo, Dr. Cassandra K. Schakett and Missy Herndon spoke at the luncheon event.
Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX The 13th annual Building Hope Gala raised more than $1.7 million for Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX on April 25. Presented by BMW of The Woodlands, this year’s event was themed Casa de Corazón or “House of Heart.” 1 Attendees placed bids on items to help oset the construction and development costs for homes in neighborhoods such as Marble Creek in Magnolia. 2 The Building Hope Gala included a performance by a mariachi band and dancers.
2 More than 300 guests attended the luncheon, which included a Philanthropy Market featuring local businesses owned by women, who donated 15% of their proceeds to the Interfaith Community Clinic. 3 The event featured the annual “Women Who Care” Awards, recognizing individuals such as Mrs. Ed Kleist for her work as a compassionate volunteer.

The annual Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas North American Championship was held April 18 in The Woodlands, featuring swimming, biking and running segments, mostly in The Woodlands. 1 In the men’s professional race, Kristian Blummenfelt maintained his title in the Ironman Texas competition April 18. 2 Solveig Løvseth won the women’s race in the Ironman Texas in The Woodlands this year.
