Local elections on May 2 decided three races in Shenandoah as well as one in Oak Ridge North and a special election for state Senate District 4. What you need to know Two incumbents retained their seats in Shenan- doah and a newcomer took the City Council Position 1 seat. According to the Montgomery County Elections website, incumbent John G. Escoto won the race for mayor with 368 votes. In an email statement, Escoto thanked the residents who participated in the election as well as his opponent, and he made several remarks on the election. “Now, it is time for us to come together,” Escoto said. “Elections may determine leadership, but our shared goal remains the same—to move Shenan- doah forward.” In the race for City Council Position 1, Ernest N. Sumrall won with 306 votes, and incumbent Frank

Robinson retained City Council Position 5 with 337 votes. Results are uno“cial until canvassed. Another detail Incumbent Paul Bond won re-election for mayor of Oak Ridge North with 176 votes, according to uno“cial results from Montgomery County Elections. Challenger Russell Dudley received 26 votes. This will be Bond’s third term as mayor. He was —rst sworn in June 2019. Before you go Republican candidate Brett Ligon will be taking the vacant Texas Senate District 4 seat, with 26,068 votes to opposing Democratic candidate Ron Angeletti’s 8,662 votes. Ligon will take over for the remainder of Sen. Brandon Creighton’s term, which will end January 2027, and voters will decide once again who will serve District 4 for the next four years.
