T en years ago, Odin Clack said he needed a laptop sleeve. He saw a leather one he liked in a magazine, but he said it was too expensive. Armed with zero leather crafting experience and a lifetime of making things with his dad, he took, unbeknownst to him, his rst steps toward a new career. He made the sleeve and was pleased with the nished product, so he dove into his newfound creative outlet. His hobby outgrew the family dining room table then overtook the garage in their Coppell home. “After about two years, I started getting more focused on what I BY KAREN CHANEY

was doing and said ‘we’ll turn this into a little business,’” Clack said. “It went from just trying to pay for materials and break even to pocket change to revenue coming in, and it grew bigger.” Clack set up his manufacturing studio in Coppell in 2017, and in 2020 he opened a retail spot in Grandscape in The Colony. In Octo- ber 2021, he opened Odin Leather Goods in Lewisville, which serves as a retail space and studio. “Customers love that they can see into the workshop,” said Rachelle Clack, Clack’s wife and business partner. “They feel a deeper connection with the product when they realize the actual hands at this

bench, which they see themselves, are making these goods.” The couple divides responsibili- ties. Clack takes care of design, pro- duction, manufacturing, resourcing and operational functions, while Rachelle handles shipping, retail and merchandising. Clack said they make personal leather goods, such as belts, wallets, bags, satchels and cases using top grain leather. “We don’t do things that are very trendy. We would love for you to have a piece from us that you feel as comfortable using today as you would 10 years from now,” he said. “I want to be proud that my name is on it.”
