Ken Winslow and his wife Laurel Winslow quit their jobs to start Wicked Voodoo Espresso. What’s in a name The name came from a trip to New Orleans. “We knew we wanted to start a coee company, but we just didn’t know the name at that point. I have an aection for sugar skulls and Laurel liked the meaning of good magic,” Ken said. “We just thought it was perfect.” They began selling their coee at pop-up events and farmers markets, and has since expanded to Canyon Lake and Far West San Antonio. What they oer The shop oers iced, blended and hot coee,
teas, kids drinks, baked goods, light food items, ground coee and single serve cups. Why it matters “We both came from stressful corporate jobs,” Laurel Winslow said. “I kept thinking there’s gotta be something better. ... I wanted to give back.” Nearly 80% of the coee sold at Wicked Voodoo Espresso comes from El Salvador. “We have such a close relationship with the families [in El Salvador]. The more coee we sell, the more they can do to help with their [children’s] schooling,” Ken Winslow said. The couple said they eventually want to raise money for scholarships in El Salvador.
