Superintendent search continues in CISD Applications for the next superintendent of Conroe ISD ocially closed July 18, the district announced July 22. “A strong pool of highly-qualied candidates, representing some of the best talent from across Texas and the nation, have submitted application materials,” district ocials said in a news release. How we got here Previously, at its June 17 meeting, the board of trustees approved its Superintendent Search Plan, which included community engagement and input conducted through June, July and August with the search rm Texans for Excellence in Education. TEE President John Petree on July 9 provided a preliminary candidate prole developed by the CISD board of trustees that outlined some qualications and characteristics the board will consider while choosing a candidate.
CISD proposes unchanged tax rate Conroe ISD held a public hearing Aug. 5 on the proposed tax rate for its preliminary budget for scal year 2025-26. No members of the public commented on the budget during the hearing. A second hearing was held Aug. 19 after press time. What to know Chief of Finance Karen Garza presented the tax rate and proposed FY 2025-26 budget at the Aug. 5 special meeting. The proposed tax rate of $0.9496 per $100 valuation is the same as the scal year 2024-25. The proposed FY 2025-26 budget includes $761.05 million in both projected estimated revenues and expenditures. The nance department will nalize revenue projections and present the nal budget for approval Aug. 19, Garza said.

TISD program to o er pathway to teaching Tomball ISD will launch a new program for students who are aspiring educators, according to a July 1 TISD news release. What you need to know TISD announced its new PTECH, or Pathways in Technology Early College High School, program called Tomball Academy of Future Educators via the release. The TAFE program will focus on preparing TISD students for careers in education. TAFE will work as a partnership between TISD and Lone Star College-Tomball. Students enrolled in the program will work toward an associate degree and get hands-on experience in district classrooms. Public school accountability ratings for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years were released on Aug. 15, with Conroe ISD receiv- ing a ‘B’ rating in each year and Tomball ISD receiving an ‘A’ in each year, according to the Texas Education Agency. The 2025 ratings were already scheduled for an Aug. 15 release, per state law. The 2024 ratings, however, were blocked until the Texas’ 15th Court of Appeals on July 3 ruled they could be released. What you need to know In both years, CISD received a score of 85 out of 100 overall. The only category in which it received a ‘C’ in each year was in Academic Growth. What’s next The board met Aug. 5 during a special board meeting to review applicant materials and identify candidates for rst-round interviews. According to a timeline released by the board in July, interviews will take place in August and a selection for the lone nalist may be made.
