Conroe ISD matched or exceeded state perfor- mance in all categories for the spring 2025 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, according to results released by the Texas Education Agency on June 17. “Our campus and district leaders have already begun using this data to make plans for continu- ous improvement for the upcoming school year and beyond,” CISD Coordinator of Accountability Lauren Helfer said in a July 16 email. Taking a step back According to the TEA news release, students across the state showed growth in reading scores but didn’t see as much progress in math. About 43% of Texas students met grade-level standards in math, compared to 50% in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Community Impact reporting. In CISD, student passage rates were above state averages in all grade levels for math except seventh grade, where they matched the state. “Students receiving supplemental instruction receive 15 or 30 hours of additional instruction throughout the school year,” according to a state- ment from CISD. “The goal of this instruction is for the student to be able to achieve satisfactory per- formance in the future by using tutoring to address the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills that the student needs support in to be successful.” Results are posted at www.texasassessment.gov.
