Lone Star College budget set to be balanced Lone Star College ocials said they expect a bal- anced budget for the college system and anticipate not changing the tax rate for scal year 2024-25. The gist On June 6, LSC’s board of trustees held its rst budget workshop for FY 2024-25. The budget will include $7.9 million more in tuition revenue compared to the FY 2023-24 budget after trustees approved tuition increases March 7, according to June 6 presentation materials. The budget will also include $54.4 million in total new revenue, including $1.1 million due to enrollment growth. LSC ocials anticipate proposing a total tax rate of $0.1076 per $100 valuation for FY 2024-25, which is the same as this scal year’s tax rate. The median tax rate among college systems statewide is $0.1461, according to LSC presentation materials.

Montgomery County unveils active shooter training facility Montgomery County ocials showcased its newly refurbished active shooter training facility in New Caney, which will provide reality-based training experience for rst responders, Montgomery County SheriŽ Rand Henderson said May 20. Diving in deeper The former middle school in New Caney ISD is staŽed through a partnership with the Department of Public Safety as well as $23.7 million in state funding. The county spent some money renting and stang the facility before the state funded its purchase. “[The facility] ensures our rst responders are highly trained and prepared for any active threat challenge,” Henderson said.

What else? LSC’s FY 2023-24 budget included $461 million in revenue and $465 million in expenditures, as previously reported by Community Impact . LSC trustees will consider formally adopting the college system’s FY 2024-25 budget on Aug. 1 and the annual tax rate on Oct. 3.
